The Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C) produces an annual suggested fee guide for dentists in Alberta. Orchards Dental follows the dental fee guide for every dental service we provide our patients. The purpose of the fee guide is to provide transparency of dental costs and procedures. Dentists set the fees they charge on services based and the fee guide can be used to help compare prices however you should speak to your dentist for any additional associated costs.
At Orchards Dental we follow the dental fee guide to make it easier for our patients to know what fees we charge for different dental procedures. We follow the dental fee guide for both basic and major dental treatments. Most dental clinics may only follow the fee guide for basic treatment but at Orchards Dental we follow it for all treatments.
Are you Required to Follow the Dental Fee Guide?
It is not a requirement for dental clinics to follow the fee guide and you may find clinics that only follow certain fees in the guide. Dental clinics consider several factors when determining the cost of their services. Some clinics may follow the fee guide for specific procedures while others follow it for all. At Orchards Dental we follow the fee guide so our patients have transparency on how much they will be charged for their dental procedure.
Your Insurance and the Dental Fee Guide
As a result of the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, most insurance companies may provide reduced coverage. The fee guide that is followed by your insurance provider may be lower than the Alberta Dental Fee Guide. Insurance providers may also make payment for claims as a percentage of the rate in their fee guide as well as different frequency limitations for some treatments. There many different insurance companies and 100’s of different plans which vary greatly so a predetermination is always required to confirm completely. Not all dental insurance providers provide full coverage for all dental procedures in the fee guide so we will issue a predetermination of benefits request to your insurance provider, so you know of your coverage prior to your treatment. We will take the guesswork out of your insurance coverage!
